DUBAI New rules have been put in place for those applying
for a desert safari driver license.
It is now mandatory to obtain a Desert Guide permit from the
Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing before applying for the Safari
Driving permit at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
Sultan Al Marzouki, director of drivers’ licensing at the RTA,
said the new permit aims to ensure all applicants have the right training and
skills to interact with tourists and provide them with the right information
about Dubai, in keeping with the global standing of the emirate.
Drivers are required to submit a No Objection Certificate
from the sponsor, passport copy with valid residency, certificate of good
conduct and knowledge of English language, in addition to completing a five-day
tour guide course and passing the final assessment before obtaining the permit.
